What is ITR-7?
ITR-7 is the Income Tax Return form for persons including companies who are required to file returns under the following sections of the Income Tax Act, 1961:
Section 139(4A): Income from property held under trust or other legal obligations wholly/partly for charitable or religious purposes.
Section 139(4B): Political parties (if total income exceeds maximum exemption limit).
Section 139(4C): Institutions like scientific research associations, news agencies, hospitals, universities, and educational institutions.
Section 139(4D): Colleges, universities, or institutions not required to file income/loss return under other provisions.
Section 139(4E): Business trusts.
Section 139(4F): Investment funds (AIFs).
Who Can File ITR-7?
Individuals, HUFs, Firms, and Companies not claiming exemption under the above sections (they must use ITR-1 to ITR-6 as applicable).
Applicable to entities claiming income exemptions under Section 11 & 12.
